Get an insight into the work-life of a lawyer
We offer several opportunities for students who wish to experience an international, forward-thinking, and pleasant work environment. At our offices in Aker Brygge, 100 lawyers work with extensive expertise across all areas of business law. As a student with us, our aim is for you to gain insight into the everyday work-life at DLA Piper, while we also have the pleasure of getting to know you better.
As a trainee at DLA Piper, you will have the opportunity to delve into various legal issues across different fields, practically applying the theory you have acquired during your studies.
Throughout the entire traineeship, you will be closely mentored by a dedicated sponsor. The sponsor will be available to assist you with professional challenges while also integrating you into our social environment and activities.
A typical internship lasts for five weeks, and we usually have two to three interns at any given time. Following the traineeship, you will receive specific feedback from your supervisor. We value discussing this feedback together to ensure both you and we benefit optimally from your time here. Additionally, you will have the chance to provide feedback on your internship to one of our lawyers in the trainee committee. You will also receive a comprehensive certificate that you can carry forward in your career.
We accept applications for internships on an ongoing basis and prefer to hire well in advance of the actual start date. If you're interested in an internship with us, we recommend applying by the beginning of your 3rd year, as this timing will maximize the benefit of the internship.
Every semester, we offer a workspace and scholarship to a master's student focusing on a business law-related topic.
This includes a dedicated workspace equipped with a PC and other necessary tools, along with a scholarship of NOK 30,000. You'll receive academic support and guidance from one of our attorneys, as well as access to our support functions such as the library, archive of experiences, and other legal databases.
The application deadline is April 15 for the fall semester and October 15 for the spring semester.

To assist lawyers with knowledge management, we have employed Professional Support Assistants (PSAs) in several of our departments. The role of a PSA is versatile and includes tasks such as:
- Drafting standard documents
- Working with an archive of experiences
- Updating legal resources within specific practice areas
- Developing and organizing knowledge systems
A PSA collaborates closely with department heads and the Knowledge Management responsible. This position offers students a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge during their studies.
The PSA position is a 20% role – that is, eight hours spread over two days per week. To ensure this doesn’t interfere with your studies, we are highly flexible regarding lectures and exam preparations.
Student seminars
We organize seminars twice a year in preparation for exams. These seminars, conducted by our experienced lawyers, take place at our offices. Food and drinks will be provided after the lectures, and several of our attorneys will be present and available for questions.
