DLA Piper has appointed Kaare Oftedal, previously Head of Corporate in Norway, to the role of Country Managing Partner in Norway. Hans Christian Brodtkorb, formerly Norway Managing Partner, will focus on his role of Chairman of DLA Piper’s Nordic region.

Kaare Oftedal joined DLA Piper in 2014 and has led the firm's Corporate department in Norway since 2016. He is an experienced lawyer with a focus on M&A in addition to general commercial legal advice. He assists Norwegian, Nordic, and international clients in a number of industries.

Hans Christian Brodtkorb has been Managing Partner in Norway since 2013 and Chairman of the Nordic region since 2016. During this time, he has helped to drive forward DLA Piper’s Nordic expansion, a strategy that recently saw the integration of Danish law firm, LETT, with 300 employees in spring 2017. Under his tenure DLA Piper Norway has increased its turnover by 71 percent.

"I would like to congratulate Kaare on his new appointment and thank Hans Christian for his ongoing efforts in spearheading the firm's growth in the Nordic region," said Andrew Darwin, Managing Director, Developing Markets. "Since launching our new approach to the region in 2016 , we have become the largest law firm in the Nordics and have experienced increasing interest from our clients. We are now concentrating on the implementation of our strategy in the Nordics."

Kaare Oftedal said: "It will be challenging and exciting to take over the baton from Hans Christian as Managing Partner in Norway. As a partner, I have been impressed by our development in recent years. Now, we will roll up our sleeves even further. We are the only international law firm that has a large business in Norway. We are seeing that our clients are keen to work across the Nordic region, as well as having fast access to high quality legal services in the 45 countries where we are established."

Hans Christian Brodtkorb said: "DLA Piper is the only law firm in the Nordic region with offices in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Leading DLA Piper in Norway has been an incredibly exciting journey over the last five years, and I am looking forward to being able to focus on the role of chairman in the Nordic region, concentrating on growth for the firm and creating value for our clients."

Hans Christian Brodtkorb has been Norway Managing Partner at DLA Piper since 2013, and chairman of DLA Piper in the Nordic region since 2016. He is also a partner in the Real Estate and Construction division having joined the firm as a partner in 2006.
