Cybersecurity

Cyber risks and attacks is an ever growing risk and concern for Norwegian companies. Such attacks can lead to extensive downtime, business interruption and loss of sensitive customer data, et al.

The increased risk and potentially serious consequences have led to an increased focus on cyber security from Norwegian public security organisations such as PST and NSM. To strengthen Europe’s ability to withstand cyber threats, the EU has adopted the NIS2 Directive, which sets out strict requirements for how organisations, as well as their board and management, should handle cyber security. Failure to comply with these requirements can result in personal liability for board members and significant fines for the organisation. Proper management of cybersecurity is therefore more important than ever.

DLA Piper has specialised expertise in cyber law and has been a leading London market insurer’s trusted breach response manager for Norwegian cyber claims and notifications since 2020. Being the first point of contact for all cyber notifications on Norwegian cyber policies has given us a unique insight on cyber incidents and the four years on the job ensures that notifications are handled efficiently. Our work involves coverage assessment of cyber insurance claims, assessment of which immediate actions are required to mitigate the cyber incident, cross-border cooperation with local and international vendors as well as the insurer’s experienced cyber team.
